Harri's Programme for 2003: Victories Only?

Harri Rovanperä will participate in at least nine WRC rallies during the 2003 season. In each, he has the opportunity to take the win. The season opener and the July ADAC Rally in Germany aren't on his 2003 programme, since car 3 driver Gilles Panizzi will be representing the Peugeot team in this season's asphalt rallies. Harri will take over the wheel of the number 3 Peugeot car in the Sweden Rally and the other eight gravel rallies of the season.

  • Harri has driven the Sweden Rally five times. His best results were a win in 2001 and second place in 2002.

  • As a new competition, the Rally of Turkey is equally unfamiliar to all drivers, so everyone will be starting from the same line.

  • Harri has already been to New Zealand Rally, winning the 2-litre event in 1997 for Seat. Peugeot got him to third in 2001 and second last year. This season is his sixth start in both New Zealand and Argentina.

  • Harri drove Seat to the 2-litre win in the Argentina Rally in 1997, but his best position with a WR car has been fourth. In Argentina Harri has always succeeded as long as the equipment has performed flawlessly.

  • Harri has participated in the Acropolis Rally of Greece four times. He earned a 2-litre win for Seat in 1998 and a podium spot for Peugeot in 2001.

  • The Cyprus Rally has been a WRC event for only two years. Harri retired in the 2001 rally due to his own error, but last year's placement in this series' slowest and knottiest competition was fourth.

  • Skipping the German ADAC Rally will give Harri the chance to focus on his 11th start in his homeland rally. The Neste Rally Finland brought a Harri and Seat a 2-litre win in 1997 and a WR podium spot in 2000 with a Toyota Corolla. For the last two years he has fought for the top spot, but in 2001 he came in fourth and last year he ended up retiring when his shocks failed.

  • Harri drove Seat to a 2-litre win in the 1997 Australia Rally and last year he came in second with Peugeot. This September brings Harri's sixth start in the Australia Rally. By that time Harri intends to have placed high enough in the WRC charts that he has a shot at the championship. That would also guarantee him a works team for the Mediterranean asphalt rallies held in October.

  • In the 1997 San Remo Rally, Harri took home the 2-litre victory, but the rest of his five starts there have only earned him a couple of top-ten placements.

  • Harri has only driven the Corsica Rally three times. In 2001, he placed seventh with a Peugeot satellite team car.

  • Harri has driven the Catalonia Rally four times and last year took seventh place with Boziani's Peugeot.

  • Harri has already participated seven times in the season-ending Great Britain Rally. In 1997 he won the 2-litre championship with Seat, and he also drove to a sensational third with a Seat WR car in 1999. Harri drove Peugeot to second in 2001 and to seventh in 2002 - the best performance for a Peugeot driver at that season closer.
